Appalachian Trail - Erwin, TN to US-19, TN

Day 1 -

Drove to Station 19E Hostel off US-19 to catch a shuttle. Shuttle driver dropped me off at Uncle Johnny's hostel which I passed the previous year.

Crossed the river and train tracks and headed a few miles up to the nearest shelter.

I am still looking for my notes but this was a pretty eventful trip.

At the shelter I was introduced to a tramily of four that were all doing some level of vidio logging of their thru-hike. Lil-Chap, Roadrunner, Cheeseball, and FOCS (I can't find a link). They ended up being my hiking companions until we all reached US-19 and Station 19E.

There was some rough trecking on this section. Lots of mud over Roan Mountain, and pretty brutal snow over ?? Gap.
